Abstract:
Approximately 85% of the total global consumption of lead is
for the production of lead-acid batteries (ILA, 2017). The main uses
of these batteries are in motorized vehicles, for storage of energy
generated by photovoltaic cells and wind turbines, and for backup
power supplies (for both the consumer market and for critical systems
such as telecommunications and hospitals). Lead-acid battery
dumped in the wild pollutes 1m3 of the earth for over 100 years.
Recycled lead requires only 35-40% of the energy needed to produce
lead from ore. The average life of lead-acid batteries used in vehicles
is taken as 3 years. (KfW Report, 2009). The broken lead batteries
are separated into dried sulfuric acid, plastic that melted in the ovens
and recycled, and other materials that form new cells of the lead
batteries, the new battery contains 6 cells, the voltage of every cell is
2.1v
To implement this idea, we need to design a 5000 m2 factory that
contains machines such as a battery crusher, rotary furnace, hydraulic
separator, lead refining unit
